Indeed, in the social media we are becoming increasingly more able to control what we learn by using individual news filtering. Perhaps we need to remind ourselves to do more random seed dispersal and cross-pollination, as exemplified by the birds, bees and butterflies... :-)

I suppose my concern is with the goodwill of the community... and i really do hate being such a pessimist about this...because
to respectfully host the complex and varied points view, "subtly encouraging" people to choose to experience information in a more complete way is a noble and beautiful thing. and it can be done...however, i wonder if it will require a process of r-evolution in a culture that is currently fed and structured by organisations/organisms that are in a state of homeostasis that isn't officially recognized as such. coke or pepsi?
keeping with the analogy of the natural world, perhaps a subtle way of introducing new ideas and perspectives would be to practice "guerrilla gardening" in the semantic world
